The climate is typically Mediterranean, with rainfall between 600 and 800 mm annually. During the month of February there are some soft snowfalls which helps control pests and insects.
The Mediterranean climate is a variety of subtropical climate, which is known for its humid and mild winters; and summers are dry and hot. Although the main feature of the Empordanès climate is the presence of a period of one or more months of drought, followed by another period of rain and a range of temperatures higher than the typical subtropical climate. Agullana is located north of the Iberian peninsula and therefore the rain periods during winter are important. This rain is not usually strong and abundant.
The Tramuntana keeps the fruit and leaves dry, without the possibility of insects (like "Cochylis") or fungi (such as "Mildiu" and "Oidium") seeking moisture. The high trellised vine allows good ventilation and an easy manual crop. It is for the reasons mentioned above that is easy to have a natural grape.
