White wine of the year

White wine of the year with an alcoholic strength of 12.5 º. Bottled in 75cl transparent "ampolla bordelesa tradició". A yellow capsule with the Agullana's shield covers the cork. Bottled at the cellar.

Varieties: Chardonnay + White GARNATXA

Production: 800 bottles

Packaging: Box with 5 bottles inside  

Tasting Notes: Yellow wine colour with green hues. Clean, clear and bright. Intense aroma with notes of ripe fruit: apricot and peach with a touch of citrus background. The shift in the mouth is soft and cool, aspects of exotic fruit and a touch of acidity that gives it a pleasant feeling of freshness. To conclude it is a young white wine with its own personality.

Aged red wine

Aged red wine with an alcoholic strength of 13.5 º. Bottled in 75 cl "bordelesa tradició" bottle (until 2003) or bottled in 75 cl "bordelesa tradició antiga tronco-cònica" bottle (since 2004) eith the brand "Prat d'Egna". A burgundy colour capsule with the Agullana's shield covers the cork. Bottled at the cellar.

Tasting Notes: Medium intensity cherry colour, with a violet hue. Aroma with evocation of jams (very ripe fruit, not raisined), concentrated, intense roasted and mineral notes. Bulky in the mouth, dry tannins of new wood, ripe fruit and plum jam tannins, on an original and very Mediterranean character. Very elegant.

 

Prat d'Egna red 2004

Varieties: Cabernet sauvignon and merlot

Barrel time: 12 months

Bottle time: 24 months

Production: 4050 bottles

Packaging: Box with 5 bottles inside  

Tasting Notes: Cherry colour, high intensity, keeping a violet hue. Red fruit aroma, leaving behind a hint of new wood very well integrated. Flesy entry and high concentration of ripe tannins, very well blended. Wine with a high potential for aging.

Oenologist

Jaume Serra Pagès is qualified in the study of wines, oenology. (September 1992 - june 1995) by the university Rovira i Virgili located in Tarragona. During the training period (1992-1995) he worked in different grape picking campaigns: COVINOSA. -Mollet de Peralada, CAVAS CASTILLO DE PERELADA S.A. and GRUP MOEIX (CHATEAUX PETRUS). -Pomerol (Grape picking Campaigne 1995-1996) Doing the jobs of  reception and grape pressing, fermentation control and also doing the proper interventions of vinification inside the tank.

When he came back from France he started his independent professional way, managing the technical department of two "cooperatives": the "Cooperativa Vitivinícola de l'Alt Empordà" and the "Cooperativa Agrícola de Sant Julià" since 1996.

After a good background he started his own cellar MASIA SERRA S.L. - Cantallops (1998) and later set  up the company CÀROPS S.L. (2003) focused on the viticultural and oenological advice.

From the beginning of the Celler Generi (in 1998), Jaume Serra is in charge of the technical and oenological advice of the cellar.

Since 1998 he teaches viticultural knowledge to the students at "Escola d'Hosteleria de Vilamalla" and takes part as oenological teacher at "Curs de Sommeliers" organized by the "Escola d'Hosteleria de Girona".
